So, the indies. The officers have been just a little boring yesterday, I’ve to say. This time, we’ll do issues randomly, for extra enjoyable.

Tamdhu 18 yo 1999/2018 (48.4%, Douglas Laing, Old Particular, refill hogshead, cask # DL 12201, 337 bottles)

Tamdhu 18 yo 1999/2018 (48.4%, Douglas Laing, Outdated Explicit, refill hogshead, cask # DL 12201, 337 bottles) Three stars and a half

Color: white wine. Nostril: good nutty nostril, with some sunflower oil, contemporary croissants, sesame oil, then brioche and vanilla. Not earthshattering, and neither is it very ‘specific’, however it is a nice nostril. Mouth: good fruitiness, with overripe apples, Danishes, clafoutis, then croissants once more and cassata. No-quibble malt whisky that we cannot keep in mind without end, however that goes down effectively and with out hassles. End: medium, on cider apples and sweeter beers. Apple juice and younger calvados. Feedback: fantastic drop from simply earlier than Y2K. Bear in mind?

 SGP:541 – 80 factors.

Tamdhu 2001/2013 (53.7%, Malts of Scotland, sherry butt, cask #MoS 13050, 685 bottles)

Tamdhu 2001/2013 (53.7%, Malts of Scotland, sherry butt, cask #MoS 13050, 685 bottles) Four stars

Color: mild gold. Nostril: we’re reminded of the official ‘batch strengths’ (oh, no) however that is relatively cleaner, with none bitter notes, relatively good desserts, biscuits, brioches, white chocolate, toasts, burnt bread, roasted nuts, toffee and fudge… With water: refined oils, sunflower, pine nuts… Mouth (neat): superb! Treacle toffee, Malibu (only one drop, no worries), bananas flambéed (al rum, naturally) and only a huge fats well-caramelised tarte tatin. With water: some lighter but waxier developments round younger cognac and… effectively, younger cognac. How attention-grabbing. End: medium, waxy and oily, near the barley, even breadier within the aftertaste. Feedback: I imagine we’re beginning to speak. Spitzenklasse at barely 12.

SGP:551 – 87 factors.

Tamdhu 10 yo 2007/2018 (57.8%, Archives, Koval cask, cask #36101, 156 bottles)

Tamdhu 10 yo 2007/2018 (57.8%, Archives, Koval cask, cask #36101, 156 bottles) Four stars

At all times a very good snigger with these ‘Fishes of Samoa’ labels. We’re nonetheless ready for a ‘Tardigrades of Mongolia’ sequence! Color: straw. Nostril: these pretty oils that have been to be discovered within the MoS and that have been sadly absent from the officers. Sunflower, linseed… The doughiness is ideal too, there’s some welcome chalk too, some pils and different blond beers too, and just a little cottage porridge too. I imply, not grocery store porridge. With water: white asparagus and Scottish mud, extra linseed oil, just a little damp cardboard.  Mouth (neat): superb upfront, a tad mentholy, camphory (maybe the Koval cask?) relatively fats and, certainly, oily, with an impeccable fruity barleyness. One thing paying homage to each patchouli and mothballs. With water: tends to shut down on apples and wine gums. End: medium, with an superior fruity barleyness. Feedback: feels genuine, pure, and easily superb. Thoughts you, one other tenner that will be ruling a present.

SGP:551 – 87 factors.

There, one other 2007 for good measure… Maintain on, have you ever seen the power?…

Tamdhu 13 yo 2007/2020 (66.5%, Or Sileis, sherry butt, cask #13822, 348 bottles)

Tamdhu 13 yo 2007/2020 (66.5%, Or Sileis, sherry butt, cask #13822, 348 bottles) Four stars and a half

Tried homicide as soon as once more. Bah, they will by no means catch me. Color: gold. Nostril: bourbon, barley and ethanol, plus vanilla and cappuccino. No additional probabilities to be taken. With water: wow, it is doing the peacock’s tail. Apricot tarte, apple pie, mushy white nougat, lemon tarte (I all the time insist, with meringue!), pears poached in Sauternes (attempt that), then peppermint, chartreuse, verbena liqueur… It appears that evidently we unleashed an entire horde of natural aromas! Mouth (neat): nice, it appears, effectively I am unsure these roasted-and-flambéed pineapples actually belong right here. So, with water: prickly pears, cranberries, extra tarte tatin, apricot pie… and so forth. Very good. End: goes on in the identical vein for lots of time. Some form of candy basil and lime within the aftertaste, which makes it very contemporary ultimately. Feedback: nice bunch of molecules however our worst nightmare right here can be to have an entire double-magnum of this and no single drop of water. Beautiful youngish Tamdhu (however they need to promote it with a free wee bottle of water on the facet).

SGP:551 – 88 factors.

Tamdhu 20 yo 1998/2018 (55.8%, Hunter Laing, The First Editions, refill hogshead, cask #HL 15369, 265 bottles)

Color: straw/gold. Nostril: the oiliness is the very first thing to return by means of, with some sunflower oil as soon as once more, then doughs and contemporary breads. Recent kougelhopf and focaccia. Which simply kills any simply soul. Completely anti-modern and in a means, unwillingly anti-OB. With water: many leaves, bidis, lime leaves, breads, peelings, walnuts and simply candy apples. Fantastic nostril. Mouth (neat): tighter, peppery, however bringing a huuuge walnut cake in entrance of us. I say that is bordering corruption. With water: complicated, fats, oily, barley-y, bready. Say apricot-and-hazelnut bread, available with real goose foie gras. Boy am I not making myself hungry! End: medium, clear, barley-y, very good. I am reminded of Canadian late-harvest apple wine. Or is that Canadian apple ice-wine? Feedback: not a lot so as to add, that is impeccable, tabernak!

SGP:651 – 88 factors.

Tamdhu 20 yo 1998/2018 (53.3%, Valinch & Mallet, bourbon hogshead, cask # 18-2003, 161 bottles)

Tamdhu 20 yo 1998/2018 (53.3%, Valinch & Mallet, bourbon hogshead, cask # 18-2003, 161 bottles) Four stars

Color: mild gold. Nostril: comparable, that’s to say all on some form of waxy and oily western fruitiness and fruit breads. Having stated that, this one’s acquired many extra sultanas too. With water: extra breads chiming in, which is strictly all the time nice information. In my simplistic system and on the nostril, breads = good, woods = dangerous. Mouth (neat): how good is that this! An exquisite fruit cocktail enhanced with at the very least three totally different sorts of honey (what?) and some mushy spices, round Szechuan pepper and turmeric powder. There. With water: some lemon zests, grass, inexperienced spices, inexperienced tannins. Undecided the palate was in want for water. End: medium, doughy and candy. Simply stewed apples within the aftertaste. Feedback: one other glorious middle-aged Tamdhu, maybe only a tad much less snug with H2O than others.

SGP:551 – 85 factors.

Tamdhu 2014/2020 (62.2%, Or Sileis, Craftsman Selection, sherry hogshead, cask #13764, 275 bottles)

Tamdhu 2014/2020 (62.2%, Or Sileis, Craftsman Choice, sherry hogshead, cask #13764, 275 bottles) Three stars and a half

With an exquisite kitten on the label. Color: full gold. Nostril: sizzling, with a wee metallic facet at first (copper cash), which I discover pretty, then apple peel and rhubarb. Let’s not neglect that this child was bottled at some relatively deadly 62% vol. Consequently, with water: whiffs of rainwater, leaves, peelings, then sourdough and bone-dry cider. Chervil and, maybe, just a little marrow. Inexperienced walnuts, very typical certainly. Mouth (neat): some extraordinarily punchy spicy and grassy younger sherry. Fairly turbulent and fairly uncooked when unreduced. With water: we’re relatively reminded of the official ‘Batch Strengths’ (let me ask once more, what does batch power imply?) Apple pie, walnuts, cider, just a little nougat, some grass, leaves, cherries, pepper, cinnamon… The youth does really feel, in spite of everything this child’s solely six and even 5. Will get just a little sweeter and rounder after 5 minutes, it could want a whole lot of oxygen. End: lengthy, just a little bitter and relatively spicy. Inexperienced pepper and hints of burnt beans. Feedback: I believe it is fairly good given the age, however maybe does it lack just a little extra sharpening.

SGP:451 – 83 factors.

Let’s name this a tasting session, for those who agree.
