You realize, Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, that is close to the Black Watch Memorial and near Citadel Menzies, Edradynate and Bolfracks. Bought to like the names they’ve over there…

Aberfeldy 16 yo (40%, OB, +/-2021) 
Aberfeldy 16 had been a bit of lightish final time we tried it however that was in 2015. A disgrace that they preserve these stingy 40% vol. although, that is not very premium is it… Color: gold. Nostril: certainly, a reasonably lighter malt-driven whisky, with some hay and a few beers, scones, shortbread, tea and butterscotch. Good 5 o’clock whisky, it appears… Mouth: extra watts, extra oomph can be wanted certainly. That is flattish, drying, quite misleading, tea-ish, and admittedly, plainly I used to be in a great temper again in 2015 (WF 82). That or they modified the recipe. End: shortish, drying. A bit cardboard, gunpowder tea, maybe a contact of butter too. A wee feintness within the aftertaste. Feedback: a bit of fleshless, I’d say. Skinny. The spine’s okay although.

Aberfeldy 15 yo 2005/2021 (55.3%, Quaich Bar Singapore, hogshead, 165 bottles) 
From a sequence chosen by nobody else than Frank McHardy! Which might make this wee ‘feldy the equal to a brand new guitar chosen by Jimmy Web page, proper. Color: mild gold. Nostril: similar because the official 16, solely with rather more energy in fact, however not solely that, additionally extra barley, malt, grist, oils, breads, doughs and truffles. Pure barleyness, sufficient mentioned. With water: rather more grass, gooseberries, plenty of porridge, bitter beers, white beers… Mouth (neat): complete barleyganza, sizzling, punchy, with some tarte tatin, beers, bitter herbs and, effectively, extra bitter herbs. Difficult-easy however this one’s received some assertion to make. Like, ‘barley and basta’. With water: a lot sweeter, simpler, fruitier, on apples and pears, plus gooseberries and numerous plums. End: lengthy and a bit of grassier once more. Feedback: quite a wrestler, malt whisky al pure, undisguised, to your favorite hipflask. Kills the OB.
