A Texas Sotol Cocktail To Save The Bees


JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Nation Resort & Spa in February partnered with Desert Door Texas Sotol on a standard mission to protect Texas bees. The entire resort’s restaurant and bar retailers serve a signature Paloma Protect cocktail utilizing Desert Door Texas Sotol’s Pollinator spirit, the third Texas Sotol variation in Desert Door’s Conservation Sequence. 

Desert Door’s nonprofit basis Wild Spirit Wild Locations (WSWP) is devoted to the restoration and preservation of untamed lands throughout Texas and the U.S. via analysis, schooling and conservation practices, and spearheaded the planting of pollinator gardens throughout Central Texas as a part of the discharge of Pollinator. Texas loses 40% of its honeybee inhabitants yearly, based on WSWP, from pesticides, drought, habitat destruction, illness and different causes.

Pollinator, a sotol spirit is created from the West Texas-grown evergreen sotol plant, is analogous in profile to agave-based spirits, tequila and mezcal. Pollinator was created with mesquite, persimmon and honeysuckle, that are native vegetation which are pollinated by Texas bee species. 

The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Nation’s meals and beverage staff and culinary gardener present regional bees with the house they should thrive by sustaining beehives on the resort’s property and harvesting honey from them. Honey harvested on the resort was not too long ago used to brew a brand new beer, Hill Nation Honey Blonde, in partnership with Freetail Brewing Co., an organization that actively builds consciousness for wildlife conservation via the event of their merchandise. 

Each the Paloma Protect, served in signature blue porcelain tumblers, and Hill Nation Honey Blonde beer are a part of the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Nation Resort & Spa’s Conservation Sequence geared toward making a optimistic affect in the local people.
